Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge #21

Welcome to the Three Amigos Blog Hop. We are three friends with a love for stamping and scrapping, and would like to share our creative ideas with you on the 3rd of each month. There are only three stops on this hop, so it will only take a few minutes to hop through. When you finish hopping, be sure to check out the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge!

This month, our challenge is Christmas/Winter/Holiday!  I pulled out my 'Tis The Season Paper Pack and put together a few treat boxes and ornaments.

My score board and bone folder definitely got a workout for these adorable gifties! I can't decide which one I like best. They were all fun to make!

This little box was created using my envelope punch board. I started with a square piece of paper, punched and scored, folded into a box, and embellished. Easy peasy!

This ornament looks complicated, but it went together in no time flat. The top opens up so treats can be tucked inside. I embossed the sentiment on the tag and added a gold snowflake charm to play along with the Double Trouble Challenges this month.

How adorable is this triangle treat box?! I colored our White Ribbon using a Sponge Dauber and Candy Apple Ink Pad. Tuck a small surprise inside and you have an adorable stocking stuffer!

I was playing around with the dahlia fold for an interactive card idea I had for November, but life got in the way, and the card didn't come together. I made this cute tag/ornament out of it instead.

Thanks for hopping by today! Hop over to Lisa's Blog and Donna's Blog to see what they created for you, then over to the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge.

We are collaborating with Double Trouble Challenges this month!  If you link to both challenges (Three Amigos and Double Trouble), you get an extra chance to win at their challenge.

We hope you play along!

Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge #19

Welcome to the Three Amigos Blog Hop. We are three friends with a love for stamping and scrapping, and would like to share our creative ideas with you on the 3rd of each month. There are only three stops on this hop, so it will only take a few minutes to hop through. When you finish hopping, be sure to check out the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge!

This month's theme is anything Halloween or Fall. I decided to create some shaker fun with the leafy frame image in the Grateful Heart- Scrapbooking stamp set.

I stamped the frame image onto the light side of Almond Cardstock with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with the new Ranger Copper Tinsel Embossing Powder. Oh my! The tinsel embossing powders create a gorgeous glittery shimmer! The copper color is perfect for a fall card. I picked up a tiny bit of ink with a water brush to add a splash of color to the leafy images, then fussy-cut out the center of the frame to create my shaker window. The little confetti hearts were cut with the new Shaker Window & Confetti Thin cuts from a scrap piece of cardstock that I embossed with the Copper Tinsel Embossing Powder before running through the Cuttlebug. The sentiment is from the Boutique- Scrapbooking stamp set.

For the inside, I only inked up the top left and bottom right corners of the leafy frame stamp. I added a bit of color and a few shimmery confetti hearts.

Double Diamond Fold How-To

I received a few requests to show how to make the double diamond fold card. I don't have a setup to video the process, so I'll try to explain the best I can in writing. If you haven't seen the card I posted earlier this week, you can see it here. I think I like today's version better, only because I LOVE the Grateful Heart papers and colors!

I used the Grateful Heart Paper Packet, Grateful Heart Cardmaking Stamp Set, and new Thin Cuts to put the card together.

Check out that butterfly! Fellow consultant, Ellen Jarvis, shared a tutorial with us on how to color it with our ShinHan Touch Twin Markers. I used our new Black Shimmer Brush to add sparkle to all of the black areas.

Let's get to how to make the card base, shall we?

You might need to click on the picture to enlarge it so you can see the lines. Dash lines are scored. Solid lines are cut.
1. Start with a base cut at 5" x 12"

2. With the 12" side at the top, score at 3", 4 1/2", 7 1/2", and 9". Make a pencil mark on the top and bottom of the base at 1 1/2" and 10 1/2"

3. On the 5" sides, make a pencil mark at 2 1/2". Cut at a diagonal from the 2 1/2" pencil mark to each of the 1 1/2" pencil marks (left side of card base). Repeat on the right side of the card base, cutting diagonally from the 2 1/2" pencil mark to the 10 1/2" pencil marks. This should create two points on each end of the base.

4. With the 12" side at the top, score diagonally (top to bottom, and bottom to top) from each 1 1/2" pencil mark to each 4 1/2" score line (left side of base). This should form an "X". Repeat on the right side of the base, scoring diagonally from each 10 1/2" pencil mark to each 7 1/2" score line.

The card base should look like this:

Now you are ready to add patterned papers (B&T) to the base.

Large Diamond Layers (cut 2): 2 3/4" X 4 3/4". Mark center of each side and cut into diamond shape. You may need to tweak the angles a bit to match the angles on the base.

Small Triangles (cut 4): 1 1/4" x 2 1/8". Cut two of them diagonally from the top right corner to the bottom left corner. Cut the remaining two diagonally from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. (This is especially important with paper that has a directional pattern).

Center: Mat cut 2 3/4" x 4 3/4" and B&T cut 2 5/8" x 4 5/8".

I recommend adding the B&T papers before folding the card base. It's easier to align and center them.

Folding the base:
Mountain fold at the 3", 4 1/2", 7 1/2", and 9" score lines.
Valley fold the diagonal "X" lines.
Hold the base with the left point at the top. Gently push the 3" mountain fold toward you (the diagonal valley folds should collapse the side of the card into a diamond shape). Then fold back on the 4 1/3" mountain fold. Burnish all of the fold lines. Repeat on the right side of the base.

I hope you give this fun fold a try! If you do, please share it with us at the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge by the end of this month!

Thanks for stopping by!

Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge #18

Welcome to the Three Amigos Blog Hop. We are three friends with a love for stamping and scrapping, and would like to share our creative ideas with you on the 3rd of each month. There are only three stops on this hop, so it will only take a few minutes to hop through. When you finish hopping, be sure to check out the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge!

This month we are making projects featuring Fun Folds. I put together a double diamond fold card using some awesome new products in the 2018 Holiday Expressions Idea Book. The finished card fits in a 6x6 envelope.

This card highlights three B&T designs from the new Boutique Paper Packet. I cut two tags using our new Thin Cuts- Fancy Tags set, and added "stitch lines" to the bottom of the Glacier tag using the new Thin Cuts- Decorative Borders set. The top tag is stamped with images from the Bunches of Love stamp set using Glacier and Peach inks. New Silver Glitter Gems, Mink Twine, and Silver Embellishing Thread finish off the design.

The fun folds act as an easel to hold the card upright. A personal message can be added to the back of the card.

Color Dare #302 A Million Thank-Yous

It's time for another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge! This week's challenge is to use only Glacier, Mink, and Bashful. You may also use White Daisy and Black, but please do not add additional colors.

Before I left for convention, I was playing around with the Nights of Lights stamp set and loved this color dare combo with the images that look like fireworks. I layered the three colors using the three different image sizes to create my own background. The stamped background is layered onto a die-cut Galcier panel, then adhered to a Mink top-folding card base.

If you look closely, you can see that I stamped hearts onto the White Ribbon using the In My Heart WYW stamp set and Bashful ink. I also added a touch of pink to the Clear Sparkles using the Tender Pink ShinHan Touch Twin Marker. The inside has another Glacier die-cut panel, but no other embellishment yet (hence, no photo).

Ready to play? Just create a project using ALL and ONLY the colors in this week's challenge. If you don't have the exact colors, use the closest colors you have. Our color challenges are open for two weeks, giving you more time and flexibility to create, share, and invite your crafty friends to join us too. You have until 11pm EST Thursday, August 2nd to enter! I can't wait to see what you create!

Three Amigos #16 and Color Dare #300 Challenges

Welcome to the Three Amigos and Color Dare Challenges. Since I just returned from CTMH convention, I decided to combine both challenges into one project to save my sanity. The July Three Amigos Challenge  is Embossing!  Create something using at least one form of embossing... dry, heat, paste... you decide!  Or use them all! The Color Dare Challenge is to use only Mink, Bashful, and Pacifica on your project. You may add White Daisy and/or Black, but no other colors.

While I was perusing the new Idea Book we received at convention, I spotted a card that became my inspiration for today's challenges. I used Paqcifica Cardstock to create a top-folding card base. After embossing the White Daisy panel with the Dot Embossing Folder, I added a bit of Mink Ink to some of the raised areas.

The Bashful strip looked a little flat, so I made it shimmer with the Bashful Shimmer Brush. I used our Circle and Stitched Circle Thin Cuts to create the sentiment piece.

I embossed the edge of the inside panel and added a strip of shimmery Bashful to complete the card.

Ready to play? For Color Dare, just create a project using ALL and ONLY the colors in this week's challenge. If you don't have the exact colors, use the closest colors you have. Our color challenges are open for two weeks, giving you more time and flexibility to create, share, and invite your crafty friends to join us too. You have until 11pm EST Thursday, July 19th to enter!

Color Dare #298 Let's Celebrate

It's time for another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge! This week's challenge is to use only New England Ivy, Linen, and Blossom, with optional Gold or Silver. You may also use White Daisy and Black, but please do not add additional colors.

Flowers were the first thing that came to mind when I saw this challenge. I tried to think outside the box to come up with something different, but wasn't thrilled by my attempts. So, flowers it is. I pulled out my Make It From Your Heart, Vol. 4 pattern book, a B&T paper from the Fresh Air Paper Packet, the Documented- Cardmaking Stamp + Thin Cuts set, and a few scrap pieces of cardstock to get started.

I stamped all of my images with New England Ivy ink and added color to the flowers using a dry waterbrush and a bit of Blossom ink from the lid of my pad. If you look closely, The Linen panel is stamped tone-on-tone using the Splash of Color stamp set. I replaced the rectangular sentiment panel with die-cut circles, slightly offsetting them for added interest. I showcased the flower near the sentiment by adding a few pieces of the New England Ivy Burlap Ribbon. Clear Sparkles and Silver Foil Paper add lots of sparkle and shine.

I carried the front design into the inside of the card to finish it off.

Ready to play? Just create a project using ALL and ONLY the colors in this week's challenge. If you don't have the exact colors, use the closest colors you have. Our color challenges are open for two weeks, giving you more time and flexibility to create, share, and invite your crafty friends to join us too. You have until 11pm EST Thursday, July 5th to enter!
