Color Dare #254- Well Hello Card

Are you ready for another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge? The final challenge for July includes all of the colors from the Prickly Pear paper packet: Blossom, Emerald, Lemon, Poppy, Sapphire, Sea Glass, Sorbet, Tangerine, White Daisy. You can choose 3-4 colors and neutrals, or use the paper packet this week.

My card was inspired by a card by Beck Fleck (the creator of PageMaps). She made paper pompoms using one-inch circles of patterned paper and covered the front of a 5"x7" card with them. I decided to make a smaller, 4.25" square version of her card.

The warm colors in the pompoms (Blossom, Poppy, and Tangerine) really pop against the Sapphire background. I added a grid of Clear Sparkles to catch the light and make the card twinkle.

I usually design cards that I can easily pop in the mail. This card could be mailed by flattening the pompoms, but I like the WOW factor that the dimension creates. I'll probably hand deliver this one!

I used a zip strip and one more Tangerine circle to finish off the inside.

Color Dare #253- Just Because Card

It's time for another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge. This week's colors are Gold, White daisy, Slate, Glacier, Willow, Tangerine, and Poppy.

I pulled out the Lovely Leaves stamp set to random stamp a background for my card front. I selected four leaves from the set and stamped them with Slate Ink. Then, I flipped three of my stamps over on the block and inked the back side of each style in a different color (Glacier, Tangerine, and Poppy). For the stamp with several small leaves, I used the small waterbrush (sans water) and Willow ink to add the color.

I attached four pieces of the gold ribbon from the Uptown Ribbon Pack around the outer edges of a piece of cardstock to create a mat for my random stamped panel. Since I wanted my colorful leaves to be the main focal point on the card, I placed the sentiment toward the bottom of the card. I kept the embellishments simple as well. Here is a closer look at the ribbon mat.

Of course, I had to add a little something to the inside too. I was going to leave just the outline of the large leaf on the inside, but decided to add color at the last minute.

Color Dare #252- Thanks So Very Much Card

So much has happened since the beginning of the month. We wrapped up our fantastic annual CTMH convention, I spent a week visiting family in Kansas, and I joined the design team at Color My Heart Color Dare. I am honored and excited to be creating with this team of talented ladies! If you haven't tried the challenge yet, I encourage you to do it!

I only used a few items on my card, but they make a big impact.

The "thanks" sentiment and the flowers are heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I mixed Raspberry Ink with water to color the flowers. "So Very Much" is stamped below the thanks with black ink. I used a a slightly damp, crumpled paper towel to add Sea Glass Ink to the Sea Glass Cardstock for a subtle tone-on-tone effect. The Emerald Ribbon is pleated for extra texture. You can see the shininess from the silver embossing better in the photo below.

Of course, I had to coordinate the inside as well.

Three Amigos July 2017 Blog Hop Challenge

Welcome to the Three Amigos Blog Hop. We are three Close To My Heart Independent Consultants with a love for stamping and scrapping, and would like to share our creative ideas with you. On the 3rd of each month, we feature a different CTMH product and create a card, layout, or other project. There are only three stops on this hop, so it will only take a few minutes to hop through. When you finish hopping, be sure to check out the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge!

This month we are sharing projects using Prickly Pear (papers or featured colors) from the new Seasonal Expressions 2 Idea Book. The featured colors are blossom, emerald, lemon, poppy, sapphire, sea glass, sorbet, tangerine, and white daisy.

I just love how fun this paper pack is. I paired two of the patterned papers with tangerine cardstock to create the background of my card. The cacti are stamped using emerald pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The flowers are also clear heat embossed with blossom pigment ink. I squeezed my ink pads to place ink on the inside lid, spritzed it with water, and used a small waterbrush to watercolor the cacti. I added more ink to the water to make it darker for shading. Then I added color from the ocean watercolor pencil for variation. The sentiment if from the Sending Smiles stamp set included in the Cricut Flower Market Collection. I added gold sequins and rose gold foil tape.

I repeated the squares of patterned paper on the inside, and added another small cactus.

Thanks for hopping by today! Hop over to Lisa's Blog and Donna's Blog to see what they created for you, then over to the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge. We hope you play along!
