Fall Leaves Wishing You Well Card

Hello Inky Friends! Sorry it's been so long since my last post. We had a lot going on this summer, and I had to put a few things on hold. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things and hope to share more often.

New Annual and Seasonal Idea Books launched on September 1st with lots of crafty goodness. Have you seen the new Layered Leaves Thin Cuts? Love, love, LOVE them (and pretty much all things leafy!) I decided to join the fall card bandwagon with this creation.

I was inspired by a card in an email I received from Pinterest, but must have deleted the email and can't find the pin. Sigh. Anyway, I loved the color combo and the use of the leaves, so I decided to make something with CTMH products. I pulled out cardstock in Saffron, Fern, Peacock, and two new colors, Paprika and French Vanilla. The sentiment is from a very old stamp set, Say It in Style, that returned in the core Idea Book. I love that I can use stamp sets from my collection instead of watching them collect dust. As a matter of fact, I pulled out two other "oldies" to use on this card.

I embossed the Vanilla Cream background with the retired Wood Slats embossing folder. I am in love with the new French Vanilla Cardstock! I think it might become my go to "white."  After I stamped the Paprika and Fern Leaf images from the retired Autumn Splendor stamp set, I used the same stamps to apply a bit of tone on tone texture to the open die cut leaves. You can find similar leaf images in the Hawthorn- Scrapbooking stamp set. I used Goldenrod Stickles for the flower centers, and added a small amount of Gold Embellishing Thread behind the flowers.

One last leaf on the inside finishes off the card.

Thanks for stopping by today!

TABH Challenge 27

Welcome to the Three Amigos Blog Hop. We are three friends with a love for stamping and paper crafting, and would like to share our creative ideas with you on the 3rd of each month. There are only three stops on this hop, so it will only take a few minutes to hop through. When you finish hopping, be sure to check out the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge!

Our June challenge is anything with wings. The Wild & Punny stamp set has the cutest little animals with coordinating sentiments. I couldn't resist using the flamingo with a cluster of balloons.

I used ShinHan Touch Twin markers to color in the flamingo. The balloons are from the Party Balloons stamp set. After stamping the outlines and solid colors, I heat embossed the designs with silver embossing powder.

Each balloon has a silver string leading to the bow near the flamingo's foot. I wanted it to look like he's holding them. I used the Splash of Color (retired) stamp set to help ground the images.

The "punny" sentiment on the inside was the inspiration for using the balloons with the flamingo.

Our May challenge is anything with a food or drink theme. This challenge was the perfect opportunity to pull out the new My Cup of Tea Stamp + Thin Cuts. I pulled in a couple papers from the Craft On and Mix-In paper packs and new sequins to make a shaker card.

The teacup and sentiment are stamped with Charcoal Ink and embossed with clear powder to create the backdrop for the shaker window. I use the coordinating Thin Cut for the window and added Rose Gold Sequins for shaker elements.

Fussy cut flowers and a mix of Rose Gold and Crafty Sequins finish off the front of the card.

I added a couple strips of the patterned paper, another fussy cut flower, and a few sequins to finish the inside.

TABH Challenge 24

Welcome to the Three Amigos Blog Hop. We are three friends with a love for stamping and paper crafting, and would like to share our creative ideas with you on the 3rd of each month. We have a rainbow challenge going on at Three Amigos this month. I pulled out my rainbow of ink colors (Blossom, Smoothie, Saffron, Lagoon, Carolina, Pansy), a stencil, and texture paste to make a quick card.

The texture paste gives the leaves dimension on the card. I purposefully spread the paste unevenly toward the outer leaves to add even more texture and interest. The ink colors were sponged on through the stencil after the paste dried. I added sparkle with the clear shimmer brush. The camera doesn't do the shimmer justice! I used the new Stitched Rectangle Frames Thin Cuts to cut the card front, and popped up the center portion with foam tape.

I tried several different stamp sentiments before settling on a die cut. To make the sentiment stand out against the busy background, I covered it with Liquid Glass and placed a die cut vellum circle behind it. Since the sentiment covered up the center of my leafy medallion where the Pansy Ink was sponged, I added a piece of Thistle ribbon from the retired Whimsy Ribbon Pack.

We have an Inspiration Photo Challenge for you this month. I received an email from Pier1 at the beginning of the year and fell in love with the colors and patterns in this photo.

See what I mean?!? I love the pillow design and the touches of gold, so I added those elements to my layout. (I apologize for the coloring in the photo. The gold in the "Love" title reflected color onto the background. I didn't notice until I uploaded the photo to edit.)

I pulled out several retired products from my stash to use along with a few current products. The three main colors are Sapphire, Glacier, and Sorbet. Have you figured out how I created my flowers and leaves yet?

The flowers are die cut from a combination of a stitched scallop edge die and a stitched oval die. I cut the scallop first, then positioned the oval to turn it into a flower. The leaves use the Stitched Quilted Shapes Thin Cuts. I added a stitched look to the stems with one of the Stitched Border Thin Cuts.

Some of the dies only pierce the stitch marks (the images without grey shadowing in the photo above). I used the die with the three loops toward the bottom of the photo and fussy cut the center loop for the leaves. This was a great way to use up scraps!

Happy New Year! Welcome to the Three Amigos Blog Hop. We are three friends with a love for stamping and paper crafting, and would like to share our creative ideas with you on the 3rd of each month. We have a fun challenge this month...Shaped Cards! My yummy card was created using a large cupcake die and scraps from the Something Fierce paper collection in the new Seasonal Expressions Idea Book. I cut the card base from Ballerina Cardstock, then built the cupcake on top. The cherry hides the card fold.

I grabbed an old scrap of textured white daisy cardstock to cut the icing and backed the sprinkles with colorful scraps from the Something Fierce Paper Packet. If you look closely, you can see some of the patterns peeking through. I added Liquid Glass to each sprinkle to give it some shine. The cherry is adorned with a small Silver Embellishing Thread bow and a Sugarplum Glitter Gem. The cupcake wrapper is cut from the light side of Mink Cardstock and stamped with Mink Ink using an image from the Years of Sweetness Stamp set to create a subtle design. I backed the wrapper with the dark side of the Mink Cardstock and added a touch of sparkle with the Clear Shimmer Brush.

I lined the inside of the card and stamped the sentiment with Raspberry Ink.

Color Dare #302 A Million Thank-Yous

It's time for another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge! This week's challenge is to use only Glacier, Mink, and Bashful. You may also use White Daisy and Black, but please do not add additional colors.

Before I left for convention, I was playing around with the Nights of Lights stamp set and loved this color dare combo with the images that look like fireworks. I layered the three colors using the three different image sizes to create my own background. The stamped background is layered onto a die-cut Galcier panel, then adhered to a Mink top-folding card base.

If you look closely, you can see that I stamped hearts onto the White Ribbon using the In My Heart WYW stamp set and Bashful ink. I also added a touch of pink to the Clear Sparkles using the Tender Pink ShinHan Touch Twin Marker. The inside has another Glacier die-cut panel, but no other embellishment yet (hence, no photo).

Ready to play? Just create a project using ALL and ONLY the colors in this week's challenge. If you don't have the exact colors, use the closest colors you have. Our color challenges are open for two weeks, giving you more time and flexibility to create, share, and invite your crafty friends to join us too. You have until 11pm EST Thursday, August 2nd to enter! I can't wait to see what you create!

Color Dare #294 Big Thank You

It's time for another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge! It's the last Color Challenge in May and Tic-Tac-Toe is here again. You get to choose colors from a Tic-Tac-Toe board using the Close to My Heart color palette from the featured paper pack of this month "Beautiful Friendship." You MUST use and identify the three colors in a row of your choice; however we will allow any or all other colors from the Challenge Board to be included. I chose to use a diagonal of colors from the bottom left up to the top right, Bashful, Smoothie, and Canary.

My card came together quickly and easily thanks to one of our new Thin Cuts- A Big Thank You. To incorporate all of the challenge colors, I sponged a panel of White Daisy Cardstock with Bashful, Blossom, and Canary inks. I die cut the thank you image from Bashful Glitter Paper to add a bit of sparkle to the card without overwhelming the design, and backed it with my sponged piece.

The die cut panel is popped up off of the Smoothie mat using craft foam, and then adhered to a Bashful card base.

I sponged another panel for the inside of the card. To soften the sponged panel so a handwritten note could easily be read, I attached a piece of Vellum Paper with a Bashful glitter frame.

Ready to play? Just create a project using at least three colors in a row of your choice. You must identify the row you chose with your entry. You may also add any or all of the other colors from the Tic-Tac-Toe board, but please do not add extra colors. If you don't have the exact colors, use the closest colors you have. Our color challenges are open for two weeks, giving you more time and flexibility to create, share, and invite your crafty friends to join us too. You have until 10pm EST Thursday, June 8th to enter! I can't wait to see what you create!

Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge #14

Welcome to the Three Amigos Blog Hop. We are three friends with a love for stamping and scrapping, and would like to share our creative ideas with you. On the 3rd of each month, we feature a different CTMH product and create a card, layout, or other project. There are only three stops on this hop, so it will only take a few minutes to hop through. When you finish hopping, be sure to check out the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge!

Our theme this month is May Flowers, and the new Beautiful Friendship suite fits the theme perfectly. I knew I wanted to use a large focal image on my card, so I decided to highlight the Beautiful Friendship Cardmaking Stamp Set today. I found the perfect pattern to showcase the teapot in the Make It From Your Heart, Vol.4 how-to book.

I stamped the teapot with Sapphire Ink onto the lace doily B&T paper and used the coordinating Thin Cuts to cut it out. For added dimension, I cut two more teapot shapes from White Daisy Cardstock and layered them together. The teapot is popped up on a strip of Bashful Cardstock that I scored every 1/4" and lightly inked. See those sequins? They have been sitting in my stash since my early days with CTMH. I've decided to make more of an effort to incorporate some of the old with the new to use it up.

I stamped the teacup inside, adding a cluster of flowers and flourishes of steam, with Heather Ink on the light side of Bashful Cardstock.

Thanks for hopping by today! Hop over to Lisa's Blog and Donna's Blog to see what they created for you, then over to the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge. We hope you play along!
