Color Dare #280- Warm Birthday Wishes

It's time for another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge! This week's challenge is to use only Pixie, Emerald, and Pansy. Unless otherwise indicated, you may also use Black and White Daisy.

Since the colors in this challenge are so saturated, I decided to add Black and White Daisy to the mix. I cut strips of paper from the Make Waves Paper Packet, adhered them to a black base, and added white, cloud-like sentiment piece.

I stamped the birthday sentiment with Emerald Ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. A few Make Waves sequins add a finishing touch.

I carried the striped pattern from the front to the inside as well.

Ready to play? Just create a project using ALL and ONLY the colors in this week's challenge. If you don't have the exact colors, use the closest colors you have. Our color challenges are open for two weeks, giving you more time and flexibility to create, share, and invite your crafty friends to join us too. You have until 11pm EST Thursday, March 1st to enter! I can't wait to see what you create!

Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge #11

Welcome to the Three Amigos Blog Hop. We are three Close To My Heart Independent Consultants with a love for stamping and scrapping, and would like to share our creative ideas with you. On the 3rd of each month, we feature a different CTMH product and create a card, layout, or other project. There are only three stops on this hop, so it will only take a few minutes to hop through. When you finish hopping, be sure to check out the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge!

Our February challenge is a NOM NOM challenge. Anything food or drink related counts! I pulled out the We Belong Together stamp set and got to work on a valentine card.

Isn't that little pizza dude adorable?! I knew he would be my focal point, so I selected a pattern from the Make It From Your Heart, Vol. 4 book to showcase him. The background paper is from a retired set of Enchantment Fundamentals. The clear embossed hearts create a subtle texture. I used our Basic Heart Thin Cuts to cut the heart shape from the scallop square panel, then backed the opening with vellum to soften the background. The adorable pizza dude is colored with our Watercolor Pencils, softened with the Small Round Watercolor Brush, and popped up over the heart cut-out with Thin 3-D Foam Dots.

I wanted to add a few sparkly accents, but couldn't find the perfect color. ShinHan markers and Purple Glitter Hearts to the rescue! I made custom accents that work perfectly with my design by coloring three glitter hearts with the Carmine ShinHan marker. The white glitter ribbon border carries a little of the sparkle down to the bottom of the card as well.

The inside sentiment and hearts are from the retired December SOTM, A Little Bit of Pun. I mimicked the card front design, leaving enough room to write a short message. All of my stamping was done with Nutmeg Ink.

Thanks for hopping by today! Hop over to Lisa's Blog and Donna's Blog to see what they created for you, then over to the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge. We hope you play along!

Color Dare #278 Love You Card

It's time for another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge! This week's challenge is to use only Bashful, Kraft, and optional Gold. Unless otherwise indicated, you may also use Black and White Daisy.

Have you seen the Pretty In Pink special for the month of February? This challenge fits the theme beautifully! Four elements from my card are included in the sale (Bashful Cardstock, Bashful Ink Pad, Gold Foil Paper, and What Matters Most Stamp Set).

I have been seeing a lot of projects with inlaid letters cut with our Block Alphabet Thin Cuts lately and decided to give it a try. I cut the word YOU from a Kraft panel and inlaid Bashful letters (with the edges inked, of course). Using VersaMark Ink, I stamped the Love image from the What Matters Most stamp set across the inlaid letters, then heat embossed with gold embossing powder. This card was screaming CAS, so I simply matted the Kraft panel with White Daisy Cardstock and Gold Foil Paper, added pearls to the corners, and popped it up over a triple ribbon accent.

One thing I discovered when heat embossing on the Kraft Cardstock is that my anti-static tool had little effect. You can see how the embossing is smooth on the Bashful letters, but bumpy on the Kraft panel. The embossing powder liked to gather in little static clumps on the Kraft Cardstock. I don't think it deters from the overall card though.
