Color Dare #294 Big Thank You

It's time for another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge! It's the last Color Challenge in May and Tic-Tac-Toe is here again. You get to choose colors from a Tic-Tac-Toe board using the Close to My Heart color palette from the featured paper pack of this month "Beautiful Friendship." You MUST use and identify the three colors in a row of your choice; however we will allow any or all other colors from the Challenge Board to be included. I chose to use a diagonal of colors from the bottom left up to the top right, Bashful, Smoothie, and Canary.

My card came together quickly and easily thanks to one of our new Thin Cuts- A Big Thank You. To incorporate all of the challenge colors, I sponged a panel of White Daisy Cardstock with Bashful, Blossom, and Canary inks. I die cut the thank you image from Bashful Glitter Paper to add a bit of sparkle to the card without overwhelming the design, and backed it with my sponged piece.

The die cut panel is popped up off of the Smoothie mat using craft foam, and then adhered to a Bashful card base.

I sponged another panel for the inside of the card. To soften the sponged panel so a handwritten note could easily be read, I attached a piece of Vellum Paper with a Bashful glitter frame.

Ready to play? Just create a project using at least three colors in a row of your choice. You must identify the row you chose with your entry. You may also add any or all of the other colors from the Tic-Tac-Toe board, but please do not add extra colors. If you don't have the exact colors, use the closest colors you have. Our color challenges are open for two weeks, giving you more time and flexibility to create, share, and invite your crafty friends to join us too. You have until 10pm EST Thursday, June 8th to enter! I can't wait to see what you create!

Color Dare #292 Missing You

It's time for another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge! This week's challenge is to use only Bashful, Canary, and Linen. You may also include White Daisy and Black, but please do not add any other colors.

I stared at the three challenge colors for quite some time trying to decide which direction I wanted to take for my card. My original idea just wasn't working for me, so I went with "plan b." The soft colors in this challenge are perfect for clean and simple cards. I decided to focus on the Bashful and Linen, and use Canary as an accent.

The Rose Embossing Folder adds subtle texture to the Linen panel while allowing the Bashful Glitter butterfly to remain the main focal point. I backed the die cut butterfly with Canary Cardstock, adding a layer of vellum in between to soften the yellow. I tried not to use black on this card, but the challenge colors were too light for the sentiment.

To add a bit of dimension to the butterfly, I adhered the body directly to the card panel and used Thin 3-D Foam Dots under the top portion of the wings. Sparkles accent the body and sentiment.

Inside, the Bashful panel is accented with embossed Linen cardstock and a thin strip of Bashful Glitter Paper.

Ready to play? Just create a project using ALL and ONLY the colors in this week's challenge. If you don't have the exact colors, use the closest colors you have. Our color challenges are open for two weeks, giving you more time and flexibility to create, share, and invite your crafty friends to join us too. You have until 11pm EST Thursday, May 24th to enter! I can't wait to see what you create!

Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge #13

Welcome to the Three Amigos Blog Hop. We are three friends with a love for stamping and scrapping, and would like to share our creative ideas with you. On the 3rd of each month, we feature a different CTMH product and create a card, layout, or other project. There are only three stops on this hop, so it will only take a few minutes to hop through. When you finish hopping, be sure to check out the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge!

This month's challenge is April Showers!  With rain, and possibly even snow, in our forecast, spring projects are very welcome. The Cricut Artistry cartridge contains a very cool raindrop background cut and an umbrella image to coordinate with it. I created a 6x6 card using some retired White Daisy textured cardstock that I've been hoarding saving for just the right occasion. I backed my raindrop cut (also from textured cardstock) with a piece of Lagoon B&T paper from the Adventure Fundamentals Paper Pack.

The umbrella is pieced together using Heather Cardstock, B&T from the Gimme Some Sugar Paper Pack, and Bashful Glitter Paper. I added a bit of Clear Shimmer Brush to the Heather part of the handle so it would sparkle like the glitter paper.

More Lagoon B&T on the inside, along with a sentiment banner cut using the Party Banners Thin Cuts. The sentiments are from a stamp set included in the Flower Market Cricut Bundle.

Thanks for hopping by today! Hop over to Lisa's Blog and Donna's Blog to see what they created for you, then over to the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge. We hope you play along!

Color Dare #282 You Are Special

It's time for another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge! This week's challenge is Pick Your Own Red with optional Gold. Unless otherwise indicated, you may also use Black and White Daisy.

The graphic for Pick Your Own Red shows Poppy, Ruby, and Cranberry, but I chose to use Pomegranate. I die cut the triangles from Gold Glitter Paper and Gold Foil Paper, randomly placed them on my front panel, and left room to heat emboss a sentiment in gold. The panel is matted with black cardstock and adhered to a white card base.

The camera just doesn't capture the shine of the gold foil with the glimmer of the glitter paper. The gold foil pieces inside the triangles actually look like little mirrors.

I added another gold embossed sentiment inside with an inlaid triangle that is an opposite of the front triangles (this one has a gold foil outline with glitter inserts). The sentiments are from the Notes of Inspiration Stamp Set.

Ready to play? Just create a project using ALL and ONLY the colors in this week's challenge. If you don't have the exact colors, use the closest colors you have. Our color challenges are open for two weeks, giving you more time and flexibility to create, share, and invite your crafty friends to join us too. You have until 11pm EST Thursday, March 15th to enter! I can't wait to see what you create!

Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge #11

Welcome to the Three Amigos Blog Hop. We are three Close To My Heart Independent Consultants with a love for stamping and scrapping, and would like to share our creative ideas with you. On the 3rd of each month, we feature a different CTMH product and create a card, layout, or other project. There are only three stops on this hop, so it will only take a few minutes to hop through. When you finish hopping, be sure to check out the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge!

Our February challenge is a NOM NOM challenge. Anything food or drink related counts! I pulled out the We Belong Together stamp set and got to work on a valentine card.

Isn't that little pizza dude adorable?! I knew he would be my focal point, so I selected a pattern from the Make It From Your Heart, Vol. 4 book to showcase him. The background paper is from a retired set of Enchantment Fundamentals. The clear embossed hearts create a subtle texture. I used our Basic Heart Thin Cuts to cut the heart shape from the scallop square panel, then backed the opening with vellum to soften the background. The adorable pizza dude is colored with our Watercolor Pencils, softened with the Small Round Watercolor Brush, and popped up over the heart cut-out with Thin 3-D Foam Dots.

I wanted to add a few sparkly accents, but couldn't find the perfect color. ShinHan markers and Purple Glitter Hearts to the rescue! I made custom accents that work perfectly with my design by coloring three glitter hearts with the Carmine ShinHan marker. The white glitter ribbon border carries a little of the sparkle down to the bottom of the card as well.

The inside sentiment and hearts are from the retired December SOTM, A Little Bit of Pun. I mimicked the card front design, leaving enough room to write a short message. All of my stamping was done with Nutmeg Ink.

Color Dare #272 Traditional Color Challenge

It's time for another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge! This week's challenge is to use only Reds and Greens, White Daisy, your choice of a neutral, and optional Gold and/or Silver.

Have you seen the ribbon trees the CTMH design team shared on the Close To My Heart Blog? I decided to give it a try for this challenge. The layers of my tree alternate between ribbon and paper (Beary Christmas and Falling For You), with a few strips of Gold and Red Shimmer Trim tucked in for sparkle. A wooden toothpick is sandwiched between two stars cut with the Star Thin Cuts from Gold Glitter Paper for the topper.

All of the ribbon I used is unfortunately retired now. You can see in the close-up that I layered gold ribbon beneath New England Ivy ribbon so the green would show better.

Ready to play? Just create a project using ONLY the colors in this week's challenge, Reds and Greens, White Daisy, choice of a neutral, and Gold and/or Silver. This color challenge is open for the entire month of December, giving you more time and flexibility to create, share, and invite your crafty friends to join us too. You have until 10pm EST Thursday, December 29th to enter! To make the holidays even more festive, we are partnering with the Heart2 Heart Challenge blog!   Enter to win and share some holiday cheer! I can't wait to see what you create!

Color Dare #260 I'm So Happy For You Card

It's time for another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge! This week's colors are White Daisy, Charcoal, Raspberry, Bashful, and Willow.

My studio time is still very limited, but I managed to sneak some time in to create a card using the National Stamping Month From The Heart Stamp Set. A couple days ago, my two of my aunts and I went shopping for a baby gift for my niece (she's having a girl). My card was inspired by all of the cute ruffled bottoms we saw while shopping.

I stamped the image using VersaMark and Charcoal inks, and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The flowers and leaves are "water colored" using Raspberry, Bashful, and Willow inks by squeezing a small amount of the ink onto the lid of the stamp pad and spritzing with water. When I spritzed the Raspberry ink, I accidentally got overspray onto my stamped image. It turned out to be a happy mistake!

I pulled out my thin cuts to cut several scallop border pieces from two-sided Bashful Cardstock and layered them to create the ruffled bottom of the card. I altered each layer with the dark front and the lighter back, accented the light scallops with the clear shimmer brush, and topped it off with a glittery bow.

I kept the inside simple.

Ready to play? Just create a project using ALL and ONLY the colors in this week's challenge. If you don't have the exact colors, use the closest colors you have. We decided to change our color challenges from one wee to TWO WEEKS! This change gives you more time and flexibility to create, share and invite your crafty friends to join us too. You have until 10pm EST Thursday, September 21st to enter! I can't wait to see what you create!

Three Amigos December 2016 Blog Hop

Welcome to the Three Amigos Blog hop.  We are three Close to My Heart Independent Consultants with a love for stamping and scrapping and would like to share our creative ideas with you.  On the 3rd of each month we feature a different CTMH product and create a card, layout, or other project.  There are only three stops on this hop so it will only take a few minutes to hop through.

This month we are using three embellishments on our projects. Lisa has been trying to get me to enter challenges for ages now, so this month I am linking my card to the Glitter & Bling challenge at Between The Folds Weekly Challenges.

This card has been dancing around in my head for a while now. Once I sat down to make it, it came together quite quickly. I knew I wanted to use the shimmery champagne ribbon from the Uptown Ribbon Pack and some Bitty Sparkles for two of my embellishments, but had a hard time deciding on a third. I finally chose the white Enamel Gems (they are included in the Grey Enamel Gems package). I cut the snowflakes from White and Sea Glass Glitter Papers using the Snowflakes Thin Cuts.

Cashmere isn't one of the coordinating colors listed with the Oh Deer! paper pack, but after trying Bamboo and Desert Sand, i found that it gave the card the feel I was looking for. Did you notice something I didn't do to my card? If you know me well, you know that I ink the edges of everything! I wanted to keep this card simple and clean, so I ditched the ink this time. I'm happy with the result!

Here's a detail shot of the shimmer and bling. I love the Glitter Paper!

Go try the challenge at Between The Folds Weekly Callenges. Let me know if you do, so I can see what you made. Before you take off, make sure you hop over to Lisa's blog and Donna's blog to see what they created this month!
