I added my "quilt" pieces to a black cardstock base, which made them look even more vibrant. Since the background has so much pattern going on, I kept the sentiment piece simple. I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder on a black pennant shape to play off of the black an white in the card. The white enamel dots mimic the white dot pattern in one of my quilt strips. I backed the black pennant with a piece of the raspberry patterned paper to make it stand out from the backdrop. The sentiment piece is adhered with dimensional foam as well.
Don't forget to decorate the inside of your cards too!
Edited to add:
I should have included my process for making the background. I drew the design on grid paper to create a template to follow. I used my clear ruler to space each piece 1/8" apart. I found it easiest to place the long blue piece toward the bottom right corner first. Hope this helps!
